SWEDEN: Looks like Muslims are painting swastikas on the door of a mosque again to get attention

The doors to the central Stockholm mosque were covered in Nazi graffiti on Wednesday night, the first time vandalism has taken the shape of swastikas, representatives said.


The Local  The swastikas, which cover the men’s entrance to the mosque on Sodermalm island in Stockholm, were discovered on Thursday morning. The mosque was vandalized a month ago, but the damage was not overtly political.
“It is the first time it’s been this way, it is usually normal graffiti but this is quite special,” mosque representative Mahmoud Khalif told the Aftonbladet newspaper. (Special indeed, it must bring back memories of Muslims in WWII)



Mosque administrators have reported the vandalism to the police, which are documenting the damage. ”They are documenting and they will potentially secure clues,” Stockholm police spokesman Mikael Petterson told the TT news agency on Thursday. “It is a prioritized case when it happens in such a place and with the winds blowing in society at the moment,” Pettersson added.
Tens of thousands Swedes assembled before Christmas to demonstrate against Nazism, after neo-Nazis brutally attacked a smaller, peaceful protest against racism in the suburb of Karrtorp a week prior.
An anti-fascist tag with an accompanying anarchist symbol were also scrawled on the mosque’s facade.

KIBLAT.NET, Stockhom – Polisi Swedia tengah menyelidiki tindak pidana berunsur SARA atas sebuah masjid di pusat kota Stockholm.

Masjid itu dicoret dengan cat semprot yang menggambarkan sebuah lambang swastika yang identik dengan logo Partai Nazi di pintu masuk utama, seperti dikutip dari Hurriyet Daily, Ahad.

“Takmir mesjid menemukan aksi vandalisme ini saat mereka tiba untuk membuka masjid pada Kamis pagi,” ujar Omar Mustafa, kepala federasi Islam Swedia. Dia memposting gambar coretan grafiti itu di akun Twitter-nya.

Mustafa mengatakan masjid ini telah menjadi target penghinaan berunsur SARA melalui surat kaleng atau aksi vandalisme sekitar dua kali dalam sebulan. Tapi, ini adalah pertama kalinya masjid itu dirusak dengan coretan swastika sejak masjid ini dibangun pada tahun 2000.

Polisi Stockholm mengatakan Unit Kriminal Berunsur Kebencian telah terlibat dalam penyelidikan, tetapi hingga Kamis,2 Januari 2014 mereka belum menangkap satu pun tersangka.

Statistik dari Dewan Nasional Swedia untuk Pencegahan Tindak Pidana menunjukkan sekitar 5.500 kejahatan kebencian dilaporkan ke polisi pada tahun 2012. Enam persen diantaranya mentargetkan Muslim Swedia yang minoritas. [sdqfajar]
