Muslim Telah Menjadi 1 dari 4 Orang Di Dunia

Setelah diberitakan bahwa pada 2050, benua Eropa menjadi benua Muslim terbesar di dunia, kini, sebuah peta baru diungkap: 1 dari 4 orang di dunia adalah Muslim. Begitu laporan CNN . Jumlah Muslim ini mencakup keseluruhan dunia, dan laporan itu cukup terperinci. Adalah Pew Forum on Rleigion & Public Life yang merilis laporan ini dengan judul “Mapping the Global Muslim Population.”

India, negara dengan mayoritas penduduknya Hindu, mempunyai pemeluk Muslim demikian banyak, di bawah Indonesia dan Pakistan. Itu artinya, India mempunyai Muslim dua kali lipat banyaknya daripada Mesir.

China mempunyai Muslim lebih banyak daripada Syria. Jerman memiliki Muslim lebih banyak daripada Lebanon, dan Russia mempunyai Muslim lebih banyak daripada Yordan dan Libya bahkan jika keduanya digabungkan.

Dua dari tiga orang Muslim di dunia tinggal di Asia, tersebar dari mulai dari Turki sampai Indonesia. Timur Tengah dan Afrika Utara, yang menjadi rumah bagi 1 Muslim dari 5 penduduk di dunia menduduki peringkat kedua dalam penyebarannya.

Sekarang ini, di dunia terdapat lebih dari 1,57 milyar Muslim di dunia. Ini merepresentasikan 23 % dari total keseluruhan penduduk dunia yang berjumlah 6,8 milyar.

Kristen mempunyai pemeluk 2,25 milyar—berdasarkan laporan World Religions Database . Brian Grim, peneliti senior di proyek Pew Forum, sangat terkejut dengan perkembangan jumlah Muslim ini—ia mengatakannya langsung kepada CNN. “Jumlahnya melebihi apa yang saya perkirakan,” ujarnya.

Muslim, sebuah proyek besar

Menurut Grim, laporan ini dikerjakan selama tiga tahun dengan melibatkan 232 negara di dunia. Tujuan mereka adalah mendapatkan gambaran yang jelas akan populasi Muslim di dunia pada saat ini. Mereka mendatangi sensus dan survey nasional di setiap negara. Pew Forum menyebutkan laporan ini sebagai “proyek terbesar”. Detail penuhnya dan bahkan apa yang ditemukan oleh para peneliti ini sangat mengejutkan.

“Ada negara yang kami perkirakan tak ada umat Muslimnya, ternyata jumlahnya sangat besar,” ujar Alan Cooperman, associate director Pew Forum, seraya menyebutkan India, Russia, dan China.

Yang lainnya, 2 dari 5 orang Muslim hidup di negara dimana mereka menjadi minoritas. Menurut Cooperman, sementara orang berpikir bahwa populasi Muslim di Eropa lebih banyak imigran, itu hanya terjadi di Eropa bagian barat saja. “Sisanya di Russia, Albania, Kosovo, dan yang lainnya, adalah penduduk Asli. Lebih dari separuh Muslim di Eropa adalah penduduk asli.”

Cooperman juga mengatakan terkejut mendapatkan populasi Muslim di Afrika bagian gurun Sahara. Ada 240 juta Muslim di sana—dan itu artinya 15% dari jumlah keseluruhan Muslim di dunia.

Islam tak pelak menjadi satu-satunya agama yang berkembang sangat pesat di dunia, dengan negara seperti Nigeria yang jumlahnya Muslim-nya sekarang sama dengan Kristen. Menurut Pew Forum, Nigeria juga menjadi negara keenam terbesar penduduk Muslim-nya.

A 2010 Pew study confirms that Christians now outnumber the Muslim population.

In response to a request for information by the nationalist Vlaams Belang party, Education Alderman Robert Voorhamme disclosed that, of the 10,743 students in the Antwerp municipal primary schools system, just under half chose Islamic studies.
“This is 45.5 percent or an increase of just under twelve percent compared to the 2007-2008 school year”, said Voorhamme – and demonstrates the rapid Islamisation of the city.[7]

Priests, ecclesiastical organisations and experts all agree that the number of those who convert from Islam to Christianity has steadily increased in recent years.

“I would say that there are 100-150 Muslims in Denmark who convert each year,” says Intercultural Studies Expert Mogens Mogensen Ph. D.

Mogensen has carried out the most extensive survey ever of conversions from Islam to Christianity in Denmark. The survey concludes that almost 1,000 Muslims converted between 1980 and 2007.

“But in recent years the phenomenon has increased. Probably as a result of the fact that through education and work, Muslims have had much closer contact with Christians in Denmark and their values. We see a clear correlation between integration and the number of conversions,” Mogensen says.

The Ecclesiastical Integration Service (KIT), an umbrella organisation for 230 migrant congregations in Denmark, agrees that there is a considerable increase in the number of conversions.

“My clear feeling is that this has speeded up over the past two years. We get a lot more approaches from Muslims who want to learn more about Christianity,” says KIT Leader Henrik Lund.

One of the congregations that preaches Christianity for former Muslims is the Greater Love congregation at Vigerslev Church in Copenhagen.
“Over the past two years we have had an increasing number of Muslims who come to be embraced by Christianity than all of the previous years put together. They experience religious freedom in Denmark and for the first time many can choose the religion they want,” says Priest Nabil Astafanos.[8]

The number of Muslim-born converts to Christianity in Egypt, who are keeping their faith secret, has reached several million. Due to the State Security's persecution, torture and rape, they have established outside Egypt an organization called "Freed by Christ" as well as "Way TV" to speak on their behalf to the West, and expose their sufferings at the hands of State Security. It is headed by the Christian convert Dr. Mohamad Rahouna, ex-dean of the Faculty of Arabic Studies, Minya University, who fled to the United States.[9]

To describe the evolution of the Muslim and Coptic communities in Egypt we showed the proportion of Egyptian Christians according to the population census of the 20th century (Table 1). Results are show in figure 1 and 2 : birth rate of Muslim women is bigger than the one of Christian women, and the trend is constant over time.
